The legendary coach built USC into a powerhouse during her 22-year head coaching career.
STUDIO CITY AND ONTARIO, Calif. — Former USC women's golf head coach Andrea Gaston was named as one of six members in the Class of 2026 SoCal Golf Hall of Fame, as announced by Southern California PGA and the Southern California Golf Association on Wednesday, Feb. 25.
The induction ceremony will take place on March 5 at the Industry Hills Golf Course at the Pacific Palms Resort, located in City of Industry, Calif.
Considered as one of the most successful coaches in USC athletics history, Gaston won three NCAA Championships and four Pac-12 titles while building the women's golf program into a powerhouse from 1996-2018. Over the course of her 22 years at USC, Gaston coached five NCAA individual champions: Jennifer Rosales (1998), Mikaela Parmlid (2003), Dewi Claire Schreefel (2006), Annie Park (2013) and Doris Chen (2014). Additionally, she guided four NCAA Players of the Year, five Pac-12 Golfers of the Year, and three Honda Sports Award winners, while 22 of her golfers won a combined 49 All-American honors.
Under Gaston's direction, the Trojans were a staple in postseason play, as her teams made the NCAA Championships in 21 consecutive years. After finishing in the top-10 in four of her first seven seasons, Gaston broke through in 2003 when the Trojans won the program's first team title in 2003 and Mikaela Parmlid won the NCAA individual title. USC went on to win two more national titles in 2008 and 2013, plus the Trojans were the national runners-up on four more occasions.
A successful amateur golfer and standout for San Jose State, Gaston's highlight of her collegiate career was placing 10th at the NCAA Championships. She also qualified to play in the 1977 U.S. Women's Open. After taking a 14-year hiatus, Gaston returned to the sport in 1992. She found success immediately: Gaston was a 1993 USGA Women's Mid-Amateur semifinalist, a top qualifier for the 1994 U.S. Women's Open along with the `93 and `94 Women's U.S. Amateurs, and had back-to-back victories in the 1994 Los Angeles and Long Beach City Championships. She was inducted into the WGCA Hall of Fame in 2010.
The Southern California Golf Association and the Southern California PGA have jointly overseen the SoCal Golf Hall of Fame since 2023. Media representatives are welcome to attend the March 5 luncheon ceremony. More information about the SoCal Golf Hall of Fame program and the class of 2026 inductees can be found on socalgolfhof.com
