No. 2 USC Women’s Golf, Jasmine Koo Win Big Ten Championship Titles
April 26, 2026 | Women's Golf
Sophomore Jasmine Koo made a late push to win her eighth career title with a 207 (-3).
GLENDALE, Calif. — The No. 2 USC Women's Golf Team added more hardware to its trophy case by not only winning the 2026 Big Ten Championship, but also having sophomore Jasmine Koo become the first Big Ten Champion in school history in Glendale, Calif. on Sunday, April 26.
The win gave USC its 10th conference title and the program's first since joining the Big Ten in 2024-25. Koo, who was already the winningest player in program history, picked up her eighth win and became the eighth Trojan to become a conference champion. Furthermore, the title gave USC its first six-tournament win streak in program history. The team's seven titles this year are the program's most since the 2018-19 season.
The Trojans battled the strongest winds of the week to fire a 288 (+8) on the par-70, 6,107-yard Oakmont Country Club track. Every team was above par in the final round. Despite the conditions, the Trojans prevailed by winning with an 844 (+4), which is the lowest 54-hole winning score in the history of the event. They were 12 strokes ahead of second-place Ohio State.
"It was a really good group effort this week," Head Coach Justin Silverstein told Big Ten Network after the win. "I'm really proud of everyone 1-5 for competing. We never stepped foot on this golf course until the practice round. This is a very, very difficult golf course that asks a lot of very unique questions. But I'm proud of how the group fought through it, composed themselves and got to the finish line."
Koo entered the day in a tie for third but fired a 68 (-2) in unfavorable conditions to clinch the title. The sophomore opened the round inauspiciously with two bogeys in the first three holes, yet those would be her lone miscues of the round. She had four birdies from that point forward — including three on the back side — to take home the title.
The turning point came when Koo birdied the par-4 No. 14 to move into second place. The sophomore then sank a 15-foot birdie putt on No. 17 to take sole possession of first place.
"I thought I had a shot [at winning] for sure," Jasmine Koo told Big Ten Network afterwards. "Winning after being four back is very doable. I've done it many, many times. In my last tournament, I was five strokes back going into the last day."
Her teammate, Bailey Shoemaker, battled through the course but tied for second with a 219 (-1). The junior began the day in first place and extended her lead to five strokes with a birdie on No. 4, however, she ran into trouble on the back side. She finished with two bogeys and a double-bogey to just one birdie to finish with a 74 (+4). Nevertheless, she earned a spot on the 2026 Big Ten Women's Golf All-Championships Team.
Sophomore Elise Lee and senior Catherine Park gave the Trojans all four scorers in the top 10 as the duo tied for ninth with 214s (+4). Both players ran into trouble in the final round, yet did enough to hang in the top 10. Lee fired a 74 (+4) in the final round, while Park's 72 (+2) brought her into the top 10 after beginning the day in a tie for 11th.
Rounding out the Trojans, Kylie Chong tied for 25th with a 220 (+10). Her result helped the Trojans become the only team with all five players in the top 25.
The Trojans will learn their destination for regionals during the 2026 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Selection Show, which will air on the Golf Channel on Wednesday, April 29 at 1 p.m. PT. All pertinent schedule information can be found on the women's golf team's schedule page on usctrojans.com.
