No. 2 USC Women’s Golf Sits in Third After Round One of Regionals
May 11, 2026 | Women's Golf
Sophomore Elise Lee fired her collegiate-best round with a 66 (-5) to lead the field.
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The No. 2 USC Trojans are in third place after the first round of the Ann Arbor Regional, held at the University of Michigan Golf Course on Monday, May 11.
Playing in cool temperatures under steady cloud cover, the Trojans ended up as one of just three teams under par at the par-71, 6,260-yard course. USC fired a 282 (-2) on day one, which is three strokes back from Big Ten foes Northwestern and Ohio State, which are tied for the lead. The top four teams will earn berths to the NCAA Championships on Wednesday.
Sophomore Elise Lee fired her best collegiate round with a 66 (-5) and is currently tied for first with Northwestern's Ashley Yun. Lee started strong with four birdies on the front side — including a five-hole stretch with three birdies — before finishing with three birdies. She had just two bogeys on the day.
Fellow sophomore Kylie Chong is tied for 19th after firing a 71 (E) in the first round. Chong held steady at par until bogeying the par-4 No. 7, yet she pushed her score under par with back-to-back birdies on Nos. 11 and 12. Her bogey on the par-4 No. 5 brought her score to par, where she stayed for the remainder of the round.
Junior Bailey Shoemaker is tied for 22nd with a 72 (+1) after round one. Shoemaker started strong with two birdies in the first five holes, yet ran into trouble with bogeys on No. 8 and 10 as she approached and made the turn. Her lone birdie on the back side came at No. 11, but two bogeys in the final two holes pushed her score over par.
Senior Catherine Park is tied for 27th with a 73 (+2). The senior ran into trouble and had three bogeys to just one birdie in the round.
Playing as a substitute for Jasmine Koo, who was out with an illness, freshman Sarah Hammett is tied for 42nd with a 75 (+4) after her first round of NCAA postseason play.
The Trojans tee off tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. ET/5:00 a.m. PT tomorrow. The remaining rounds will be livestreamed via Babygrande, which requires a subscription. All pertinent links can be found on the women's golf team's schedule page on usctrojans.com.
