USC Track and Field Closes New Mexico Collegiate Classic with Five Event Wins

Madison Whyte broke the facility record in the women’s 400m
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The USC track and field team doubled their win count from day one as the New Mexico Collegiate Classic came to a close on Saturday. The Women of Troy brought standout performances in the 60m, 400m and 4x400m relay with Madison Whyte's 400m breaking the facility record and taking the top spot in the NCAA this season at 50.82.
In total, the Trojans accounted for ten event wins, two facility records and seven spots in the program top 10 all-time list across the weekend.
Brianna Selby and Olivia Pace took the 60m by storm, securing first and third place, respectively. Both also set personal bests with Selby running a time of 7.15 and Pace coming in at 7.25.
On the men's side, Edward Nketia highlighted the day in the 60m with another personal best of 6.54 in the semifinals to secure his spot at Indoor NCAA Championships.
- Madison Whyte's time of 50.82 in the indoor 400m takes the no. 2 spot in the school record book and sends her to the top of the NCAA leaderboard as a favorite for the national title in the event.
- The women's 4x400m relay included a return from Joelle Trepagnier and a collegiate debut by Madison Mosby who ran an impressive second leg to keep USC in the race. Dajaz DeFrand handed off to Madison Whyte who overtook UCLA on the final leg to win the event in 3:28.65.
- Lauren Reed set a new best in the triple jump to take the crown at 13.02m, achieving fifth all-time in school history.
- Ashley Erasmus told a similar story at shot put with a win and a new personal best of 7.74m which is now the second-best throw from a Trojan in the event all-time.
- Ethan Exilhomme had a strong showing in the men's 60m hurdles to take fifth place with a time of 7.80, tying his personal best.
- In the men's 400m, Jack Stadlman debuted with a time of 46.14 to take eighth place. Lincoln Marschall and Emmett Mack set new personal records of 47.7 and 47.65, respectively, in the event as well.
