No. 2 USC Women's Golf Leads the Way at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational

Four Trojans are in the top 10 after two rounds.
OAHU, Hawai'i — Boosted by four individuals in the top 10, the No. 2 USC Women's Golf team has a 16-stroke lead over the field after two rounds of play at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, held in Oahu, Hawai'i on Tuesday, March 17.
The Trojans had a 276 (-8) in the first round before firing a 270 (-14) in the second round to extend their lead over the field at the Pearl at Kalauao's par-71, 6,077-yard course. Their 546 (-22) is 16 strokes ahead of No. 23 Arizona State, which is in second place with a 562 (-6).
Individually, sophomore Jasmine Koo is in the lead with a 135 (-7), which is two strokes ahead of junior Bailey Shoemaker, who is in second place with a 137 (-5). Senior Catherine Park is tied for fourth with a 139 (-3), while Elise Lee rounds out USC's top 10 individuals in eighth place with a 140 (-2) while competing as an individual.
Koo shot up the leaderboard early by firing a 67 (-4) in the first round before maintaining her lead with a 68 (-3) in the second round. During her first round, Koo had four birdies and no bogeys on the front side before wrapping up the back side with one bogey and one birdie apiece. She found trouble early on the front side with back-to-back bogeys on Nos. 5 and 6, but the sophomore had four birdies in her last six holes to lower her score. She had 11 birdies to just four bogeys on the day.
Shoemaker fired a 72 (+1) in the first round but climbed up the leaderboard with a 65 (-6) in the second round. In her second round, Shoemaker shook off two bogeys in the first five holes to close the round with six birdies. She had three straight to wrap up her 65 (-6), which tied the best round of her collegiate career.
Like Shoemaker, Park moved up the leaderboard thanks to her second round. After firing a 71 (E) in the first round, Park had a 68 (-3) with two birdies, an eagle on the par-5 No. 5 and just one bogey. She is currently in a four-way tie for fourth with a 139 (-3).
Competing as an individual, sophomore Elise Lee was in the top 10 after her first round 71 (-1) and maintained her spot in the top 10 by firing another 71 (-1) in the second round. All told, she had six birdies and two bogeys on the day. She is alone in eighth place with a 140 (-2).
Sophomore Sarah Hammett improved throughout the day to finish in a four-way tie for 11th. She ran into trouble in the first round with four bogeys and a double-bogey on the front side, but recovered with four birdies on the back side to wrap up her first-round 73 (+2). Then she moved up the leaderboard by firing a 69 (-2) in the second round that featured five birdies to just three bogeys. She is in a four-way tie for 11th with a 142 (E).
Sophomore Kylie Chong is in a tie for 15th. She began the tournament by firing a bogey-free 67 (-4) but ran into trouble in her second round by firing a 77 (+6). She is tied for 15th with a 143 (+1).
