Trojans topple Badgers for the second time this season.
MADISON, Wis. - No. 17 USC women's tennis secured a 4–1 victory over Wisconsin on Sunday, using a strong doubles performance and three singles wins to clinch the dual match.
The Trojans jumped ahead early by taking the doubles point. The pair of Lily Fairclough and Krisha Mahendran edged Ekaterina Ivanova and Ellison Reynoldson 7–5 on court one, while Emma Charney and Immi Haddad followed with a 6–4 win over Kaja Jacobson and Tianna Rangan on court three to seal the point. Wisconsin's duo of Maria Sholokhova and Kaede Usui claimed the remaining doubles match, defeating Dani Borruel and Eugenia Zozaya 6–4.
In singles play, Wisconsin evened the match early when No. 17 Maria Sholokhova defeated No. 38 Jana Hossam 6–3, 6–2 on court one. USC quickly regained control, however, beginning with No. 98 ranked Eugenia Zozaya's decisive 6–1, 6–3 victory over Tianna Rangan on court three. No. 39 Emma Charney added another point with a 6–2, 6–4 win against Ellison Reynoldson at the No. 4 position.
Dani Borruel clinched the match for USC on court six, grinding out a 6–3, 7–5 victory over Kaede Usui to secure the fourth point. Thewo remaining matches consisting of Immi Haddad vs. Ekaterina Ivanova and Krisha Mahendran vs. Kaja Jacobson went unfinished once the outcome was decided.
With the win, USC improves to 9-4 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
