LOS ANGELES – The No. 23 USC baseball team finished off a three-game sweep of Purdue with a convincing 11-4 victory on Sunday afternoon at Dedeaux Field.

The Trojans held the Boilermakers to just four hits on the day, while putting up 11 runs on 12 hits of their own. USC moves to 33-11 on the year and 15-8 in Big Ten play with the win. Purdue falls to 28-15, 15-9.

After a three-run first inning by the Boilermakers, the USC bats found a quick response, putting up four runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Isaac Cadena led the bottom of the first off with a solo-home run, his fourth long ball of the year. Andrew Lamb later doubled in a run and then Abbrie Covarrubias gave the Trojans the lead with a two-out, two-run single.

Gavin Lauridsen settled in after a rough first, working a scoreless second before turning things over to Andrew Johnson. Johnson would cruise through 5.0 scoreless innings, giving up just one hit and two walks. Sax Matson and Adam Troy finished off the final two innings on the mound.

The Trojans added two more runs in the third, getting a solo-shot from Jack Basseer and an RBI single from Maddox Riske. Lamb would tack on another in the fourth with his second run-scoring double of the game.

A four-run eighth inning put things well out of reach for Purdue. Adrian Lopez hit a three-run shot and then was immediately followed by Augie Lopez with a solo-homer.

COMING UP
USC hits the road for a midweek contest at UC Irvine on Tuesday and then returns to Dedeaux Field next weekend to host Rutgers for a three-game set. Tuesday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and all three games against Rutgers will be on B1G+.
