No. 13 seed USC welcomes Sacramento State, Utah and California for First and Second Rounds.
LOS ANGELES — No. 13 seed USC women's tennis is set to host the opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament, welcoming a competitive four-team field to Marks Stadium for the First and Second Rounds on May 1-2.Â
The Trojans (19-6, 12-1 Big Ten) earned their 42nd NCAA Tournament appearance after a historic season that saw them capture their first-ever Big Ten regular season title. USC returns to familiar territory as a host site after last doing so in 2024 and carries a strong postseason pedigree with a 79-40 all-time record in NCAA play.
Anchored by ranked talent across the lineup, USC features three singles standouts in No. 23 Jana Hossam, No. 67 Emma Charney and No. 118 Eugenia Zozaya. The Trojans also boast depth in doubles, led by No. 29 Krisha Mahendran/Lily Fairclough, along with two additional ranked pairs in Hossam/Fairclough (No. 56) and Dani Borruel/Fairclough (No. 81).
USC opens tournament play on Friday at 2 p.m. PT against Big Sky champion Sacramento State. The Hornets (19-5, 7-1 Big Sky) enter on a seven-match winning streak and fresh off their third straight conference tournament title, highlighted by a 4-1 win over Northern Arizona.
Friday's earlier match features Utah and California at 11 a.m. Utah (15-9, 8-5 Big 12) looks to snap a four-match skid after falling in the Big 12 Tournament opener, while California (12-7, 8-4 ACC) arrives with momentum from a strong conference showing and a 4-2 nonconference win over USC earlier this season.
Saturday's Second Round match is set for 12 p.m., with a trip to the NCAA Super Regionals on the line.
With a championship resume, home-court advantage and a balanced lineup, the Trojans will look to defend Marks Stadium and punch their ticket to the tournament's second weekend.
