USC Track and Field Posts Strong Performances to Start Battle on the Bayou and Triton Invitational

Four Trojans recorded new personal bests in their event
BATON ROUGE, La. – The USC track and field team put on a strong showing on day one of both LSU Battle on the Bayou and the Triton Invitational. Reese Garland had the standout moment of the day, winning the women's discus with the No. 4 mark in program history at 56.63m.
LSU BATTLE ON THE BAYOU
The Women of Troy were led by Madison Whyte, who placed second in the women's 200m, clocking the No. 2 time in the NCAA this season at 22.73. On the heels of Whyte in the 200m was Christine M. Mallard. She finished third in 22.78, the No. 3 time in the NCAA this season.
Yougendy Mauricette set a personal best in the 400m hurdles, finishing second with a time of 49.97 seconds. Falyn Lott also posted a season-best in the 400m hurdles with a time of 58.91 to finish fourth. Over at the field events, Lauren Reed secured fourth in long jump with a best mark of 6.17m.
TRITON INVITATIONAL
The throws squad got their weekend started with strong marks in women's hammer and discus. Reese Garland set a new personal best in discus to win the event and notch a USC top-5 mark. In the women's hammer throw, Karyssa Owens secured fourth place with a best mark of 57.06m.
