No. 2 USC Women’s Golf Places Second, Will Face Duke in Match Play Quarterfinals

Senior Catherine Park finished in fourth place at -8 to lead the Trojans.

CARLSBAD, Calif. — Qualifying for match play for the fourth consecutive season, the No. 2 USC Women's Golf team placed second after the final round of stroke play at the 2026 NCAA Championships, held at The Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. on Monday, May 25.

Playing in the windiest conditions of the tournament at the par-72, 6,156-yard course, the Trojans fired a 295 (+7) to finish with a 1143 (-9) total, making them one of two teams to finish stroke play under par. Only two of the 15 teams that played on Monday had final rounds under par: No. 1 Stanford, which won with an 1130 (-22) total, and Eastern Michigan.

As the 2-seed, the Trojans will face off against the 7-seed Duke in the match play quarterfinals at 6:50 a.m. PT. Tuesday will be the third time USC and Duke have faced each other in the NCAA quarterfinals: Duke won the first matchup in 2016 and the Trojans won the last meeting in 2018. This is the ninth time the Trojans have qualified for match play and the program's fifth appearance under Head Coach Justin Silverstein.

Senior Catherine Park led the Trojans and finished in fourth place after contending for the national title throughout the day. Playing in her final collegiate stroke play event, the senior from Irvine, Calif. found trouble with two bogeys on the front side, but moved back into a tie for the lead after a birdie on the par-5 No. 6. Despite having birdie chances, the putts did not drop for Park. She fell back into fourth place after bogeying the par-3 No. 12 and couldn't lower her score throughout the final six holes to finish with a four-round total of 280 (-8).

This was Park's third top-5 finish at the NCAA Championships. She capped off an illustrious career with 40 top-25 finishes and 30 top-10 finishes with a program-best 40 rounds in the 60s.

Joining her on the podium, sophomore Jasmine Koo finished in 11th place with a 284 (-4) total. Koo's 72 (E) was the best round of the day for USC and made her the only Trojan to have all four rounds at or below par in the tournament. She made an early move up the leaderboard with two birdies in the first four holes, however, she found trouble with bogeys on Nos. 5 and 7. She made the turn at -2, but found more trouble midway through the back side with bogeys on Nos. 12 and 15 with a birdie on the par-4 No. 14 to minimize the damage. This was her best finish at the NCAA Championships, making a nine-spot improvement over her shared 20th-place finish as a freshman.

Junior Bailey Shoemaker gave USC three players in the top 25, as she finished with a 289 (+1) total to tie for 23rd. Despite a birdie to start the day, Shoemaker found trouble throughout the final round en route to firing a 75 (+3).

Rounding out the Trojans, sophomore Kylie Chong tied for 46th with a 295 (+7) total, while fellow sophomore Elise Lee tied for 68th with a 300 (+12) total.

Texas junior Farah O'Keefe won the individual title with a 276 (-12) total, while Stanford's Megha Ganne (-10) and Duke's Rianne Malixi (-9) rounded out the top three individual finishers.

Tomorrow's match play coverage on Babygrande Golf will begin at 7 a.m., while coverage on the Golf Channel will begin at 10 a.m. PT.
