The 6-foot-10 forward comes to USC from Evansville.
LOS ANGELES – USC Men's Basketball has signed University of Evansville transfer Joshua Hughes for the 2026-27 season, Head Coach Eric Musselman announced today, May 8.
"We are excited to welcome Josh Hughes to our Trojan family," Musselman said. "Josh provides us with tremendous leadership and experience. With Josh's size and shooting, he provides our USC team with great versatility. Josh will be a great addition to our program, and we cannot wait to coach him!"
Hughes played three seasons with the Aces, coming all the way from Brisbane, Australia. The forward started in all 32 games for Evansville last season, averaging 9.3 points and 4.7 rebounds. He had 18 games where he finished in double figures, including a season-high 16 points on four occasions. He also had three double-doubles, most recently against Valparaiso when he grabbed 10 boards and 10 points. Over the course of his career, Hughes has appeared in every game for the Aces. In his three seasons, he averaged 7.4 points and 4.4 rebounds in 26 minutes played.
Prior to Evansville, Hughes played for Team Australia, representing his country at the U17 World Cup in 2022. He also played in the NBL1 league in Australia for the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence, averaging 6.9 points and 3.1 rebounds in 14.7 minutes played while shooting at 56 percent from the field.
Hughes is the second player to sign with the Trojans from the transfer portal. He joins Eric Reibe, who signed in April. Hughes will also join returners Rodney Rice, Jacob Cofie and Alijah Arenas, and freshmen Adonis Ratliff, Darius Ratliff and Christian Collins.
