June 10, 2026 | Track & Field
The Trojan men will compete in four events on Friday
EUGENE, Ore. — The USC men's track and field team got NCAA Championships started on Wednesday at Hayward Field with the first points scored in men's hammer throw. Despite hiccups and a tough day on the track for the Trojan men, Edward Nketia advanced to Friday's final in both the 100m and 200m.
Max Lampinen was the first Trojan to advance to a final, earning first team all-American honors. His personal best in the hammer throw preliminary flights got him to the ninth place spot where he was able to best his previous throws twice more. The freshman worked his way up to seventh place on his last throw with a mark of 71.64 (235-0), slotting in at No. 9 in USC history.
On the track side, Nketia shined, advancing to his first 100m NCAA final after missing the mark last season. He qualified off his time of 10.09, tying for sixth. In the 200m, he equaled his PR of 20.24 to get the big Q and fourth place headed to the finals.
Nketia and the men's field events will be back in action on Friday for the final day of action on the men's side.
The Women of Troy continue the championships tomorrow, competing across seven events. A full schedule and starting lists can be found at usctrojans.com. More information will be made available on Instagram and X @usc_track_field.
