Andrew Johnson Named to USA Baseball Collegiate National Team
July 06, 2026 | Baseball
LOS ANGELES – USA Baseball announced the 28-man roster for the 2026 Collegiate National Team this week and USC pitcher Andrew Johnson was named to the squad.
Johnson will compete with Team USA in the inaugural World Collegiate Baseball Championship at Taichung City Intercontinental Baseball Stadium in Taichung City, Taiwan, from July 11-15. The roster was named after 11 days of workouts, practices, and intrasquad scrimmages across North Carolina and Virginia.
The Trojan righty is the first USC player to be named to the Collegiate National Team since Ian Kennedy in 2005.
Johnson is coming off a stellar sophomore season in which he went 8-2 on the mound and posted a 3.23 ERA in 92.0 innings pitched. He was especially effective in the postseason for USC, tossing 20.2 innings over four appearances while giving up just five earned runs (2.17 ERA) to help propel the Trojans to a Super Regional appearance for the first time since 2005.
The World Collegiate Baseball Championship format will feature five days of games, with three days of pool play followed by the semifinals and medal games. The U.S. will open its pool play slate on July 11 against Korea, face Chinese Taipei on July 12, and then play Japan on July 13. The semifinals will be played July 14 and the finals, which will consist of gold- and bronze-medal games, will be held July 15.
