USC Women's Soccer Draws 1-1 Against Oregon

LOS ANGELES — The USC women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw at home against Oregon on Friday night, getting a second-half equalizer from Maya McDermott.
After the Trojans fell behind in the first half, McDermott equalized on a shot from nearly 25 yards out in the 50th minute as USC moves to 1-5-3 overall and 0-2-1 in Big Ten action. Oregon moves to 6-1-2, 1-1-1.
The Ducks got an early goal from Carly Cormack in the 22nd minute as Maddie Sharrer and Miya Alamares combined on the assist.
USC put up eight shots in the first half, but couldn't break through with a goal until early in the second. McDermott received the ball near the left sideline and dribbled toward the center of the field before firing a deep strike that cleared the jumping keeper and found the upper right corner of the goal.
It was McDermott's first goal as a Trojan as the senior grad transfer was honored before the game with the rest of USC's graduating class.
Josie Biehl made saves in both halves including one late on a shot from deep in the box off a corner kick. The Trojans held a 14-7 lead in shots and controlled 68% of the possession.
