THIS SEASON: Alex Ross, an Atlantic 10 All-Conference first team performer who helped Davidson College win a pair of league championships during a four years with the Wildcats, is a fifth-year senior transfer for the Trojans -- he once fired a competitive round of 15-under 57 -- who is completing his collegiate career at USC ... Ross saw action in three 2021 Fall events and won his debut as a Trojan, capturing the 36-hole Washington County Individual with a one-stroke win at 12-under 132 (64-68). His 64 was the lowest USC round since Justin Suh's 64 to open the Western Intercollegiate on April 15, 2019. It was the lowest-round by a first-year Trojan since Kaito Onishi's 63 as a freshman in the 2017-18 season and the lowest USC debut round in at least 20 years.
DAVIDSON: Ross played in 35 career rounds for the Wildcats and was a key part of 2018 and 2021 Atlantic 10 Conference titles, helping the Wildcats to its first two NCAA Championships Regional appearances both seasons … Ross, who has a career stroke average of 73.41 with 12 top 10 finishes and nine top 5s, was a 2020 Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar, a 2020 PING All-Region pick, a 2019 All-Conference first-teamer and was the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year in 2018 … As a 2021 senior, he played in seven events with a 74.19 stroke average and one top 10 finish, a second-place at the the Atlantic 10 Championship at 5-under 211 (75-69-67) as the Wildcats won by nine strokes … As a 2020 junior, Ross registered a team-best 71.50 stroke average was ranked inside the Golfstat Top 40 at one point during a season that saw him post six top 5 finishes. He was co-medalist at the 2020 Wexford Invitational and was runner-up twice at the Mountaineer Invitational and again at Pinehurst. He had 12 rounds of par or better with four in the 60s … As a 2019 sophomore, he was posted a 73.03 stroke average with 13 rounds of par or better. He had one top 5 finish and four top 10s … As a 2018 freshman, Ross tied for third at the Atlantic 10 Championship as Davidson won its first conference crown. Competing in all 10 team events, he had a 74.55 stroke average and finished his season with a tie for 21st at the NCAA Regional Championship.
HIGH SCHOOL: Ross was graduated from Pace Academy in Atlanta where he was a two-time team captain. He was the 13th Ranked Player in the state of Georgia and an All-State selection following his junior season … He finished runner-up in the 2016 Georgia State Junior Championship and recorded a fifth-place showing at the 2016 AJGA Under Armour Championship … He was one of only 12 players in the country named to the 2016 AJGA Transamerica Scholastic All-American Team.
PERSONAL: He is studying communication management … On June 6 of 2019, Ross posted a viral round of golf, firing a 15-under 57 in the third round of the Dogwood Invitational at Druid Hills G.C. His 15-under par total tied the lowest competitive round ever recorded. He shot a 9-under 27 on the back 9 (his first nine) and finished the round with 13 birdies and an eagle.
