2007: Moala started for his second season at defensive tackle as a junior in 2007. Overall in 2007 while starting all 13 games, he had 32 tackles, including 5.5 for losss of 21 yards (including 2.5 sacks for minus 16 yards). He was named to the 2007 Rivals.com All-Pac-10 first team and Phil Steele[apos]s All-Pac-10 honorable mention. He sprained his left ankle during 2007 spring practice and sat out the last half of spring drills.
He had 2 tackles versus Idaho, 5 stops (with 1 for a loss) at Nebraska, 3 tackles (1 for a loss) at Washington, 2 tackles against Stanford and 1 stop versus Arizona. He added 5 tackles (including 1 sack) at Notre Dame, 6 tackles at Oregon, 1 tackle against Oregon State and 2 stop at California. He had 2 tackles (1 for a loss) at Arizona State and 1.5 sacks among his 2 tackles against UCLA. He added 1 tackles against Illinois.
2006: Moala started USC[apos]s last 7 games at defensive tackle as a sophomore in 2006. He also started 3 early-season contests (Nebraska, Arizona, Washington State) at nose tackle for an injured Sedrick Ellis. Overall in 2006 while appearing in all 13 games, he had 20 tackles, including 7 for losses of 16 yards (with 2.5 sacks for minus 8 yards), plus a fumble recovery and 4 deflections. He made 2006 Collegefootballnews.com Sophomore All-American honorable mention and All-Pac-10 honorable mention. He had 5 tackles against Notre Dame (including 2 for losses, with a sack), plus a fumble recovery and a deflection. He added 4 tackles against Nebraska, 3 against California and 2 at Oregon State (with a sack). Both of his tackles against Michigan were for losses (including 0.5 sack).
2005: Moala saw key playing time at defensive tackle as a redshirt freshman in 2005, even starting 2 games (Arizona State and Arizona). Overall in 2005 while appearing in all 13 games, he had 8 tackles, including 1 for a loss of 1 yard. He had 3 tackles against Washington State and 2 versus Arizona.
2004: Moala redshirted as a freshman defensive tackle in 2004, his first year at USC. He sprained his right hand and his shoulder in 2004 fall practice and missed USC[apos]s first 4 games. He was USC[apos]s 2004 Service Team Defensive Player of the Year.
JUNIOR COLLEGE: He originally signed with USC in 2003, but did not qualify for admission, so he attended Cypress (Calif.) Junior College in 2003 as a part-time student (he didn[apos]t play football there).
HIGH SCHOOL: He was a 2002 Super Prep All-Farwest, Prep Star All-West, Tom Lemming All-West and Tacoma News Tribune Western 100 selection as a senior offensive and defensive lineman at Western High in Anaheim (Calif.). He missed all but 2 games of his 2002 senior season because of an injured left foot ligament.
As a junior in 2002, he made All-CIF Division IX first team and All-League while posting 60 tackles and 4 sacks.
PERSONAL: He[apos]s a sociology major at USC. His cousin is former Oregon defensive tackle Haloti Ngata (2002-05), now with the NFL[apos]s Baltimore Ravens.
