2009: The experienced Thomas will start at cornerback as a senior in 2009.
2008: Thomas, who missed most of the previous 2 seasons with injuries, didn[apos]t miss a beat upon his return in 2008 and saw significant playing time at cornerback as a junior. He appeared in all 13 games in 2008, primarily as an often-used backup and as the nickel back, and he even started 2 games (Washington State and Arizona). Overall in 2008, he had 14 tackles, including 2 sacks for minus 15 yards, plus he had 7 deflections and a team-high 3 interceptions (including 1 returned for a TD).
He had a tackle and interception at Virginia, 2 tacklesw and a deflection versus Ohio State, a deflection at Oregon State and 2 tackles against Oregon. He had 2 tackles (with a sack), 2 deflections and returned an interception 46 yards for a touchdown against Arizona State. He added a tackle and an interception at Arizona. He then had 2 deflections against Washington, 3 tackles with a sack versus California, a tackle at Stanford, 2 stops against Notre Dame, a deflection at UCLA and a tackle versus Penn State.
2007: Thomas redshirted as a junior cornerback in 2007 while recuperating from surgery on a sprained left shoulder prior to 2007 spring practice.
2006: Thomas was set to be a key contributor at cornerback in 2006 as a sophomore, but injuries limited his availability. He started the opener at Arkansas but sprained his right ankle in that game, which caused him to miss the next 2 games (Nebraska and Arizona). He returned for USC[apos]s next 3 games (even starting against Arizona State) but broke his left foot against Arizona State and was sidelined the rest of the season. Overall in 2006 while appearing in 4 games, he had 10 tackles, a fumble recovery and a deflection. He had a tackle and a fumble recovery at Arkansas, then added 2 tackles and a deflection at Washington State, 3 tackles against Washington and 4 tackles versus Arizona State.
2005: Thomas saw action as a backup cornerback and on special teams as a first-year freshman in 2005. Overall in 2005 while appearing in 9 games (all but Hawaii, Oregon, Arizona State and Arizona), he made 7 tackles and 2 deflections. He missed the Oregon, Arizona State and Arizona games because of mononucleosis. He had 3 tackles at Washington and 2 versus Washington State.
HIGH SCHOOL: He earned 2004 Super Prep All-American, Prep Star All-American, Tom Lemming All-American, Prep Star Top 100 Dream Team, Student Sports Top 100, Rivals 100, Super Prep All-Farwest, Prep Star All-West, Long Beach Press-Telegram Best in the West first team, Tacoma News Tribune Western 100, Orange County Register Fab 15 first team, Cal-Hi Sports All-State second team, All-CIF Division IV, Los Angeles Times All-Star, Los Angeles Times All-Ventura/North Coast Back of the Year and Los Angeles Daily News All-Area first team honors as a senior defensive back and wide receiver at Rio Mesa High in Oxnard (Calif.). He had 81 tackles and 5 interceptions (1 for a TD) on defense, caught 27 passes for 430 yards (15.9 avg.) with 5 TDs on offense and returned a kickoff for a score in 2004.
As a junior in 2003, he made All-County and All-League first team while recording 68 tackles, 3 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery, plus getting 21 catches for 481 yards (22.9 avg.) with 1 TD.
He also ran track at Rio Mesa, with best of 10.84 in the 100 meters and 22.0 in the 200 meters.
PERSONAL: He[apos]s a social science economics major at USC.
