2016: LaBonty will serve as a walk-on reserve safety as a sophomore in 2016.
2015: LaBonty sat out the 2015 season as a redshirt freshman walk-on safety because of NCAA transfer rules after transferring to USC in the fall of 2015 from Cal Poly. He was sidelined all of 2015 with a shoulder injury.
CAL POLY: He redshirted as a first-year freshman defensive back at Cal Poly in 2014. Current Trojan Lance Mudd also attended Cal Poly.
HIGH SCHOOL: He was 2013 Orange County Register All-Orange County third team and All-Trinity League first team as a senior safety and wide receiver at Santa Margarita High in Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.). He made 48 total tackles, 3 interceptions, 7 deflections and a fumble recovery on defense in 2013 and caught 14 passes for 125 yards (8.9 avg).
As a 2012 junior, he had 27 tackles and 2 deflections on defense and caught 4 passes for 61 yards (15.3 avg).
As a sophomore in 2011, he was a member of Santa Margarita’s state championship team.
He also was on the track and soccer teams at Santa Margarita.
PERSONAL: He was born in Toronto, Canada. He is a communication major at USC with a B average (3.10 GPA).
