Kurt Karis is in his sixth season with the USC men’s basketball program, first as an assistant coach, elevated to the position on Aug. 2. He spent the previous three seasons as Director of Scouting, following two seasons as a graduate assistant with the USC men’s basketball program. He earned his Master’s in Communication Management in 2020. He also earned his undergraduate degree from USC in Communication.
Karis began his USC basketball career in the 2017 season following two years (2014-15) at Chicago State. The Northbrook, Ill. native played in 22 games in two seasons for the Trojans, serving the role of a back-up guard on the team.
Karis played his high school ball at Glenbrook North and averaged 17 points and seven assists as a senior. He was named all-conference his final three seasons at Glenbrook North and was named the team MVP his final two seasons. He helped lead his team to conference titles each of his final three seasons.
Karis is one of 10 children.
