Nick Hamilton is in his third season with the USC men’s basketball program, first as Director of Scouting. He spent his first two seasons with USC as a graduate assistant. He earned a Master’s in Education in Post-Secondary Administration and Student Affairs from USC in 2020. He now is working on a Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership from Pepperdine. He is a Bill Gates Scholarship recipient which pays for his undergraduate and PhD education.
Hamilton played basketball at California and graduated in 2018 with degrees in Legal Studies and Media Studies. He was named first-team on the 2018 Pac-12 All-Academic team and was selected NABC Honor’s Court in 2017 and 2018. He played three seasons for the Bears, averaging 1.4 points in 46 games. In his senior season, Hamilton played in 31 games and made seven starts, averaging 1.9 points and a career-high 14.3 minutes per game. Hamilton sat out the 2015-16 season as he recovered from a preseason knee injury. He joined the California team as a walk-on, but was awarded a full athletic scholarship for the 2017-18 season.
Hamilton went to high school at Westchester HS in Los Angeles where he was a two-year starter. He averaged 11 points, 10 rebounds and three steals per game in leading Westchester to a 30-6 record and a berth in the Southern California Regional finals as a senior. He was named the CIF Southern Section Student-Athlete of the Year. He was a two-time All-City selection by the L.A. Times and All-Western League pick by the coaches. He played AAU ball with both Double Pump and Fastbreak in southern California. He maintained a 4.2 cumulative GPA through high school and was the recipient of the Gates Millennium Scholarship, a prestigious honor limited to 1,000 students nationwide.
Hamilton, who lives in Los Angeles, has five older brothers.
