THIS YEAR:
Redshirt senior Marissa Minderler continued to make great strides in the throws, culminating with a Pac-10 title and the fourth-farthest throw in the hammer by a Trojan female. Looks to gain All-America status this season.
2011:
Again was a force at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet by winning the javelin and shot put competitions and taking third in the hammer throw. Won the Pac-10 hammer title with a PR of 210-3 (64.09m). She moved into fourth place on USCs all-time hammer throw list and became the highest America-born Trojan on the list as the top three USC throwers all-time are natives of Hungary...She also placed sixth in the javelin throw with a mark of 144-7 (44.07m) and eighth in the shot put with a mark of 48-2 (14.68m). Advanced out of the NCAA Preliminary Rounds with the sixth-best throw in the hammer of 199-10 (60.90m). Placed 14th at the NCAA Championships in the hammer throw with a mark of 191-1 (58.25m). Finished 12th at the USA Championships in the hammer throw with a mark of 204-2 (62.23m).
2010:
Set PRs and moved into USC[apos]s top 10 in the hammer (193-1 - 8th), javelin (157-3 - 5th) and shot put (48-6.75 - 9th). Reached the NCAA semifinals in the hammer where she placed 14th with a throw of 183-3 (55.86m). Finished 10th at the NCAA Preliminary Rounds in Austin, Texas with a throw of 188-3 (57.39m) to advance to the NCAA Championships. Placed fifth in the shot put with a mark of 44-11.75 (13.71m), sixth in the javelin with a toss of 147-4 (44.90m) and 13th in the hammer with a throw of 156-5 (47.67m) at the Pac-10 Championships. She scored 14 points in the USC-UCLA Dual Meet by winning the hammer and shot competitons and placing second in the javelin and third in the discus. The combined scores from all of UCLA[apos]s women and men in the throws at the Dual Meet was 13 points, so she outscored the UCLA throws team 14-13.
2009: Set then PRs in all the implements last season. Had a best mark of 178-11 (54.53m) in the hammer to place second in the Section B at the Trojan Invitational on March 21. He top javelin toss of 153-3 (46.64m) placed her third in the USC-UCLA Dual Meet on May 2. Also took second in the hammer in the Dual Meet with a throw of 173-10 (52.98m). Her top shot put of 44-0 (13.41m) also came at the Dual Meet, good for fourth. For good measure, she also threw the discus at the Dual Meet and placed fifth with a throw of 136-0 (41.45m). Set her PR in the discus of 143-5 (43.71m) at the UC San Diego Invitational on April 24. Placed eighth in the javelin at the Pac-10 Championships with a throw of 145-11 (44.48m). Also competed in the hammer, but had fouls on all three throws. Placed 16th in the javelin at the West Regional with a throw of 137-11 (42.05m). 2008: Redshirted in her first season at USC.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Minderler attended Monta Vista High in Cupertino, Calif. Earned All-League honors...Finished third in the 100m at the CCS Championships and was a CIF 100m contender.
PERSONAL:
Marissa was born on May 7, 1989. Her hobbies include cooking and drawing...Lists her favorite movies as Crash and A Bronx Tale and favorite television show as Alias...She is majoring in Kinesiology at USC with a Nutrition minor...Took part in the USC Community Bowl outreach program.
