Entering his second season at USC, Ben Goldberg continues to bring extensive coaching and playing experience at the collegiate level to the Trojan women's tennis program.
Goldberg joined Alison Swain's staff on July 1, 2025, after spending the previous season as an assistant coach with the Pepperdine women's tennis program. No stranger to Southern California tennis, Goldberg also spent eight years at UCLA as both a student-athlete and coach, helping develop a strong foundation in one of the nation's premier collegiate tennis programs.
In his first season at USC, Goldberg helped guide the Trojans to one of the most successful campaigns in program history. USC finished 21-7 overall and 12-1 in Big Ten play, capturing a share of the program's first Big Ten regular-season championship and 12th conference title overall. The Trojans advanced to the NCAA Super Regional, finished the season ranked No. 13 nationally and compiled a perfect 12-0 record at home. USC also produced four ITA All-Americans and six NCAA Individual Championship qualifiers during the 2025-26 season.Â
During his one season at Pepperdine (2024-25), the Waves women's tennis team went 15-12 overall and 5-1 in conference play, capturing the WCC Tournament Title. Pepperdine finished 25th in the final ITA team rankings after advancing to the second round of NCAA play.ÂGolberg was hired as a volunteer assistant in 2021 and later made a full-time assistant coach at UCLA. During his three-year stint as an assistant on the men's tennis team, he helped coach several All-Pac-12 players and NCAA singles qualifiers, including Alexander Hoogmartens and Govind Nanda. Additionally, Goldberg assisted the 2024 Pac-12 Freshman/Newcomer of the Year Spencer Johnson while at UCLA.Â
As a student-athlete, Goldberg helped the Bruins win three Pac-12 regular-season titles and one conference tournament title. Over the course of five seasons — which included an extra year of eligibility due to the coronavirus pandemic — Goldberg amassed a 48-43 record in singles play and a 33-36 mark in doubles while moving up the lineup throughout his career.
