THIS SEASON: Meredith Xepoleas enters her sophomore season at USC.
2014-15 SEASON: Xepoleas finished her sophomore season ranked No. 85 in the nation in singles... Wrapped the season on a 21-match singles win streak... Won Pac-12 Invitational Singles Championship... Went 4-0 at the No. 6 singles position during the NCAA Team Tournament... Went 33-8 overall in singles, going 20-2 in dual matches... Played primarily at the No. 6 position (12-1)... Also played at No. 5 (6-0) and No. 4 (2-1)... Had the clinching singles win in five dual matches... In doubles, went 7-7 overall with a 3-4 mark in dual matches... Was 4-2 overall and 1-1 in dual matches with Gabriella DeSimone... Also paired with Zoë Katz (0-1), Giuliana Olmos (1-0), Sabrina Santamaria (0-2), Zoë Scandalis (0-1) and Madison Westby (1-0)... HIGH SCHOOL: Xepoleas began her tennis career at the Weil Tennis Academy in Ojai, Calif.. Reached the singles 16-under finals at age 12 at the Ojai Tournament... Earned the Bronze Ball at the USTA 14-under National Hard Court tournament... A five-time 18-under junior winner in 2013... Competed on the pro circuit in 2014, beating players ranked as high as 315 on the WTA circuit... Ranked as high as No. 2 in the nation.
PERSONAL: Meredith Donna Xepoleas was born May 21, 1997 in Sacramento, Calif.... Daughter of John and Monterey... Has one sister, Lynda, who plays tennis at Purdue... Enjoys paddle-boarding, writing, baking and scuba diving in her free time... Lists Lucie Hradeck as the tougherst person she’s competed against... Has always wanted to skydive... Hopes to backpack across Europe after graduation... A published author who earned an award for her short story “Sal and Pep: The 12:10 to Cheyenne”... Working on her second novel... Majoring in history.
