SEATTLE (AP) - Brandon Granville scored a career-high 27 points to lead Southern California to an 87-65 victory over Washington Thursday night.
Granville, the Trojans' all-time leader in assists (647) and 3-pointers (188), hit 4-of-6 3-pointers as Southern California won its fifth straight game and sixth in a row over Washington (6-5, 0-2 Pac-10).
Southern Cal (9-2, 1-0), which reached the Elite Eight in the 2001 NCAA Tournament, has opened its conference schedule with a win in each of the last four seasons.
The Trojans used an attacking defense to force the Huskies into a season-high 25 turnovers.
Four Southern Cal players reached double figures in scoring, led by Granville. Sam Clancy scored 25 on 11-of-17 shooting. David Bluthenthal had 14, and Errick Craven added 12.
The Huskies were led by Erroll Knight's 13. Josh Barnard added 10. Doug Wrenn, who entered the game as Washington's leading scorer with a 17.3-point average, was held to eight.
The Huskies never got closer than 15 points in the second half.
Southern Cal jumped out to a quick 13-4 advantage by 3:11 into game. The Huskies struggled in bringing the ball up the court against the Trojans' full-court pressure defense.
Southern Cal increased its advantage to 16 before the Huskies' Erroll Knight followed his 3-pointer with a dunk that cut the lead to 36-25 with 3:40 to play in the half. Granville responded with eight points in the next minute on two 3-pointers and a breakaway layin.
Washington couldn't recover, and the Trojans led 48-32 at the half.
