Eric Vance had 18 kills while hitting .455 and his No. 4-ranked Cal State Northridge men's volleyball team served 7 aces to sweep No. 5 USC, 30-23, 34-32, 30-26, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match on Saturday (Feb. 28) in USC's Galen Center.

CSUN, which beat the Trojans for the 13th consecutive time, upped its record to 13-2 overall and 9-2 in the MPSF to remain a half match out of the league lead. USC fell to 11-4 overall and 8-3 in the MPSF.
Tanner Nua and Jacek Ratajczak both added 11 kills for the Matadors (Ratajczak hit .588), while Ali'i Keohohou had a match-best 12 digs.
For USC, Murphy Troy had 16 kills while hitting .367, Austin Zahn had 8 kills (hitting .467) with a match-high 5 blocks, Hunter Current had 8 kills and hit .700, and Luke Morris had 10 digs.
Cal State Northridge hit .379 to USC's .260.
CSUN got out to a quick 6-4 lead in the first set and slowly pulled away while hitting .444 and getting 3 aces. The second set wasn't decided until a pair of USC hitting errors ended it. The Matadors went on a 6-0 run to open a 22-19 lead in the third set and closed out the match with a .400 hitting mark.
USC next goes on the road for a pair of MPSF contests, facing No. 6 Long Beach State on March 4 and then No. 12 UC San Diego on March 6. Both matches start at 7 p.m.
