Logan Smith Falls In ITA Southwest Regional Singles Final

MALIBU, CALIF. — USC freshman Logan Smith battled through his fifth three-set match at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships but came up just short in this one, taking a loss in the singles championship bout today in Malibu.
Unseeded and playing in his first major ITA tournament as a Trojan, freshman Smith had pulled off four previous three-set victories before cruising through a straight-set win in yesterday's semifinals. In today's title match, Smith went three rounds again — this time up against No. 4 seeded Martin Redlicki of UCLA. The Bruin had edged out another Trojan — Nick Crystal — in his semifinal match, and proved stubborn once again in the final against Smith. The Trojan nabbed the first set but #57 Redlicki battled back to win it 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.
