USC Men's Volleyball Sweeps Concordia

Lucas Yoder had 18 kills while hitting .394 to lead the men's volleyball team to a 26-24, 25-22, 25-15 sweep versus Concordia in a non-conference match on Wednesday (March 16). USC improved to 5-14 overall, while Concordia dropped to 10-6 overall.
Matt Douglas led the team with 10 digs, while Andy Benesh tallied seven kills. Ryan Moss and Woody Cook each recorded five kills on the night, and Josh Kirchner added six blocks.
The Trojans outhit the Eagles .245 to .149.
Concordia's Andrew Hammer and Joseph Pillon both led the Eagles with eight kills apiece while hitting .263 and .273 respectively. Ryan Anselmo had seven kills and one block, and Andrew Hammer and Griffin Ender each tallied nine digs.
USC pushed to a 13-9 lead in the first set, but the Eagles fought back to tie up the score at 16-16. The two teams exchanged points back-and-forth, but the Trojans would have the final word and claim the first set 26-24. In the second set, USC took a 10-7 lead, but Concordia would push points to build a 16-14 edge. In true Trojan form, USC battled their way back to claim the set 25-22. Troy surged ahead with an 11-6 score in the third set and held onto their lead as they ran away with the set and the match.
USC takes on Holy Names on Friday (March 18) at the Galen Center at 7 p.m.
