Freshman Jennifer Chang tied for second while sophomore Allisen Corpuz tied for fourth and freshman Alyaa Abdulghany tied for sixth – all career-bests – to lead the No. 12 USC women's golf team to second place on the final day of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate at the English Turn Golf & C.C. in New Orleans on Tuesday (Feb. 20).
USC finished play at 18-over 882 (293-292-297), nine back of winner Florida (873) and six ahead of Michigan State. The Trojans briefly took the lead early in the final round before settling for second, their third top 2 finish this season.
Chang, in her second career start as a Trojan, tied for second at 3-under 213 (70-69-74), four back of first. The freshman birdied three times in her final round and had eight in the tournament.
Corpuz, the only current Trojan who was on last year's roster, registered a USC best tie for fourth at 2-under 214 (70-74-70) with a four-birdie final round, going out and coming in with 1-unders.
Abdulghany also turned in her best effort at Troy, tying for sixth at 2-over 218 (74-71-73), finishing her tournament with three birdies against four bogeys.
Freshman Gabriela Ruffels tied for 73rd at 21-over 237 (79-78-80) while sophomore Divya Manthena tied for 86th at 29-over 245 (79-83-83).
USC returns to action on Monday in the Bruin Wave Invitational in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
