The Women of Troy were defeated, 13-12, by the Eagles in the program’s sixth-all-time overtime game
LOS ANGELES – The 12th-ranked USC lacrosse team (2-3) was defeated, 13-12, in overtime by No. 4 Boston College (8-0) in the team's home opener at McAlister Field. It was the sixth overtime game in program history and the first ever at McAlister.

KEY PLAYERS
- Senior goalie Gussie Johns tied the program's second-highest single-game total with eight ground balls. It was her season-high mark and came with seven saves and a caused turnover.
- Sophomore midfielder Kerrigan Miller matched her career high with five goals and had three draw controls, three caused turnovers, and two ground balls.
- Senior defender Lydia Sutton had a season-high four ground balls with three caused turnovers.
- Tess Chandler scored four goals to lead Boston College, including the game-winning goal in overtime. Sam Apuzzo and Dempsey Arsenault each scored hat tricks. Apuzzo also led all players with 10 draw controls.
- USC erased an early 3-1 deficit and got back-to-back goals from sophomore midfielder Kaeli Huff (4:56) and Miller (0:05) to send the Trojans into halftime with a 6-5 lead.
- BC scored three goals from free position in the second half and led, 9-7, but USC went on a 4-1 run with two goals apiece from Miller and sophomore attacker Izzy McMahon to lead, 12-11, with 6:30 left to play.
- Tess Chandler scored with 1:18 remaining in regulation and the Eagles held on to force overtime.
- Apuzzo secured her 10th draw control to open overtime. In a settled offense, Apuzzo found Chandler for the golden goal just one minute into the extra-time period.
- USC plays in its first-ever Pac-12 Conference game on Saturday when it hosts Arizona State (5-1) at McAlister Field. First draw is set for noon PT. The game will be streamed live on USC's Pac-12+ portal.
GAME NOTES
- USC falls to 0-4 all-time against Boston College. The four wins are the most in a row by any single USC opponent.
- The Trojans played in the program's sixth overtime game and fell to 1-5 in all-time OT games. It was the first-ever USC overtime game played at McAlister Field.
- USC lost back-to-back games for the first time since Feb. 7, 2015 (12-11 OT to Northwestern) and Feb. 21, 2015 (7-4 to Stony Brook on the road).
- The Trojans fell to 14-22 all-time against ranked opponents; 9-12 against top-10 foes; and 2-9 against top-5 opponents.
- The loss at McAlister Field snapped a 22-game winning streak at the venue. It also snaps a 25-game home winning streak that included victories at the LA Memorial Coliseum. USC falls to 30-9 all-time at McAlister Field.
- Sr. G Gussie Johns' eight ground balls tied the second most in a single game by a Trojan. She tied a mark set by herself (Feb. 18, 2017 vs. Northwestern) and Courtney Tarleton (Apr. 25, 2014 at Northwestern).
- So. MF Kerrigan Miller tied her career high with five goals.
