The Women of Troy snapped a three-game losing streak with a 17-7 win over San Diego State
LOS ANGELES – The 20th-ranked USC lacrosse team (8-7, 5-4 Pac-12) snapped a three-game skid with a resounding 17-7 victory over San Diego State (8-7) at McAlister Field on Senior Day; Friday, April 13. The Trojans celebrated the careers of graduate transfer Maeve McMahon, and seniors Gussie Johns, Alexis Kardias, and Lydia Sutton in pre-game ceremonies.

KEY PLAYERS
- Senior goalie Johns had 11 saves and five ground balls. It was her fifth game in double-digit saves this year; 12th career.
- Senior defender Sutton scored a goal and recorded an assist to go with five ground balls and four caused turnovers.
- On attack, Kardias scored two goals and recorded an assist; McMahon had an assist, two ground balls and a draw control.
- Sophomore attacker Izzy McMahon matched her career high with four goals and added an assist. Sophomore attacker Hope Anhut secured her first hat trick as a Trojan with three goals.
- Sophomore midfielder Kerrigan Miller had two goals, two assists, two ground balls, and two caused turnovers. In the center circle, junior Jackie Gilbert secured 11 draw controls and had three ground balls.
- For San Diego State, Harlowe Steele scored three goals, and won four draws. Grace McGinty scored a goal and had two draw controls. Elizabeth Rourke, Isabelle Flud, and Lexi Tan scored the other three goals. Katy Sharretts had 11 saves in the cage.
- USC out-shot SDSU, 44-25, and won the ground-ball battle by a 24-15 edge. Despite trailing, 5-4, in the center circle at halftime, the Trojans won the draw game by a 14-11 count to end the game.
- The teams traded goals over the first 10 minutes of the game. The Trojans then went on a 4-0 run over the next 10 but slowed down to close the half with a 6-3 advantage.
- The Aztecs scored two goals in two minutes to open the second half and trailed just 7-5 before the Women of Troy went on a decisive 9-1 run to lead, 16-6, and all but clinch the win.
- Steele scored a goal at 3:54 to stop USC's running-clock, but Anhut secured her hat trick with 2:20 to play to allow the Trojans to wrap up a 17-7 victory.
- USC closes the regular season and its Pac-12 schedule at Arizona State (6-10, 1-8 Pac-12) on Saturday, April 21. First draw is set for 11 a.m. PT/MT in Tempe, Ariz., at the Sun Devil Soccer Field. The game will be streamed on Pac-12+.
- USC improved to 7-0 all-time against the Aztecs. It is the first win over SDSU for the Trojans since USC left the MPSF.
- The Trojans snapped a three-game losing streak and avoided setting a new program long for consecutive losses.
- USC improved to 35-10 all-time at McAlister Field.
- Sr. G Gussie Johns logged her 12th-career game with double-digit saves with her fifth of the season (11 saves).
- Sr. D Lydia Sutton matched her career high with five ground balls.
- Jr. D Jackie Gilbert matched her career high with 11 draw controls; her second-career game in double digits. Gilbert collected her 75th-career draw control to move into fourth all-time in USC history.
- So. M Kerrigan Miller caused two turnovers for her 68th-career CT and moved into third in USC program history.
