Sophomore Allisen Corpuz fired a 3-under 69 while freshman Jennifer Chang carded an even 72 to lead No. 4 USC into a tie for third place after the first round of the 2018 Pac-12 Women's Golf Championships on Sunday (April 22) at the Broadmoor C.C. in Seattle, Wash.
The Trojans, winners of three in a row entering the postseason, finished at a combined 3-over 291, four strokes back of first-place UCLA, one back of Stanford and tied with Arizona State and Colorado. Washington was sixth (+5) with Arizona seventh (+7).
Corpuz registered her third round in the 60s this season – all coming in the last five rounds – to tie for fourth after 18 holes, one shot back of a three-way tie for first. She had four birdies on the day and an eagle on the par 5 13th hole.
Chang, coming off her first win, is tied for 11th after her par 72 which saw her mix two birdies and two bogeys during her round.
Freshman Alyaa Abdulghany is tied for 20th at 2-over 74 and, like Corpuz, eagled 13.
Freshman Gabi Ruffels is tied for 32nd at 4-over 76 while freshman Amelia Garvey is tied for 43rd at 6-over 78.
Action continues Tuesday and Wednesday.
