Leon D'Souza cards eighth straight round under par to lead Troy.
Junior Leon D'Souza kept his hot streak alive with his eighth straight round under par – including six rounds under 70 – to highlight the No. 18 USC men's golf team's efforts during the second round of the Amer Ari Invitational on Friday (Feb. 7) at the Waikoloa (Hawai'i) Kings Course.
The Trojans started and finished the day tied for ninth in the 20-team field, now at 6-under 570 (284-286). No. 2 Georgia Tech leads the field at 33-under.
D'Souza, whose season stroke average is now 69.27, fired a 2-under 70 and remains tied for 17th at 5-under 139 (69-70). He began the day 3-over through five holes but squared his day with a birdie on 2 and eagled the par 5 4th hole for his 2-under.
Freshman Tyler Guo and juniors Issei Tanabe and Kaito Onishi all carded par rounds today. Guo is tied for 49th at 1-under 143 (71-72). He was 3-under thru 17 holes before a triple on 7 ended his day.
Freshman Yuxin Lin is tied for 67th at 1-over 145 (70-75) while Onishi (74-72) and Tanabe (74-72) are tied for 77th. Senior Kyle Suppa, playing individually, is tied for 90th at 4-over 148 (75-73).
The final round Saturday will begin with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. PT.
