Freshman Yuxin Lin fired a final-round 2-under 70 while junior Leon D'Souza topped USC in the standings to lead No. 18 USC on Saturday (Feb. 8) as play wrapped at the Amer Ari Invitational at the Waikoloa (Hawai'i) Kings Course.
The Trojans finished 12th in the 20-team field at 3-under 861 (284-286-291). No. 1 Pepperdine won at 39-under 825.
D'Souza's streak of eight straight rounds under par ended today with a 2-over finale and he finished tied for 38th at 3-under 213 (69-70-74).
Lin tied for 49th at 1-under 215 (70-75-70), finishing outside of the top 15 for the first time this season. He birdied seven times today, including three in a row near the end of his round.
Freshman Tyler Guo tied for 71st at 2-over 218 (71-72-75) while junior Kaito Onishi tied for 79th at 3-over 219 (74-72-73).
Junior Issei Tanabe tied for 86th at 4-over 220 (74-72-74) and senior Kyle Suppa, playing individually, tied for 102nd at 12-over 228 (75-73-80).
