Reese Dixon-Waters scored a career-high 17 points with six rebounds as USC men's basketball won its Pac-12 opener in a 66-51 rout at California on Wednesday.
The Trojans (5-3, 1-0 Pac-12) shot a season-best 93.8 percent from the free-throw line (15-of-16) and never trailed in the wire-to-wire victory. USC used a devastating 20-0 run late in the second half to put the game away.
Joshua Morgan had an all-around performance, finishing with 14 points, seven rebounds and seven blocks. Drew Peterson also scored 14 points with seven rebounds and five assists. Tre White had eight points with seven boards.
USC exerted dominance early by opening the game on a 14-2 run. The Trojans led big for most of the first half until Cal (0-8, 0-1 Pac-12) finished the period on a 11-3 spurt to cut the USC lead to five points at the break.
Despite the Trojans building their lead back to 10 points with 14:33 remaining in the game, the Golden Bears roared back with a 10-2 run that decimated USC's advantage to just three points.
Dixon-Waters scored 10 points in the final nine minutes of the game that helped USC scored 20 unanswered points that sealed the Trojan victory.
