Simone Jackson's Brace Leads No. 15 USC Women's Soccer Past Oregon, 3-0

LOS ANGELES – Simone Jackson scored twice and the Trojans shut out their fourth opponent in the last five games as the No. 15 USC women's soccer team blanked Oregon, 3-0, on Thursday afternoon at home.
USC outshot the Ducks 23-6 on the afternoon as the Trojans move to 8-2 overall and 4-0 in Pac-12 play. Oregon falls to 0-10-2 overall and 0-4 in conference. USC has now won five in a row and has outscored its opponents 13-1 over that stretch.
Helena Sampaio got the scoring going early as Hannah Griffin drew a penalty in the area in the 24th minute and Sampaio slotted home the free kick. Jackson would score the first of her two goals before the break, collecting a failed clearance and firing it inside the right post to make it 2-0 in the 35th minute. Her second strike came in the 68th minute when Izzy Kimberly sent a pass into the box and Jackson beat the keeper to the near post.
USC only gave up three shots in each half, with Oregon putting only two balls on target in the game. The Trojans had 10 shots on goal and owned a 5-2 corner kick advantage. It was the sixth shutout of the year recorded by USC.

24' – USC: Helena Sampaio (PK) – Hannah Griffin drew the foul in the penalty area and Sampaio converted inside the left post.
35' – USC: Simone Jackson (unassisted) – Jackson collected a failed clearance in the left side of the area and sent a shot across the box and inside the far right post.
68' – USC: Simone Jackson (assisted by Izzy Kimberly) – Kimberly sent a pass ahead into the area that was deflected to the right side of the box, where Jackson ran onto it and fired past the keeper at the near post.
