LAST TIME OUT
USC hosted their first Big Ten game as they took on a familiar opponent in the No. 12 Oregon Ducks. Both defenses came out strong as neither team scored a basket for the first three minutes of the game. Even though Oregon was the first team to score, it didn't affect the Trojans. With the help of Chibuzo Agbo and Desmond Claude, USC pulled ahead of the Ducks and maintained a seven-point lead at the half. The Trojans didn't stop there. They picked up where they left off in the first half, this time with Terrance Williams II lighting up the stat sheet. However, the Ducks' defense started to pick up the pace as they prevented the Trojans from scoring for a total of eight minutes in the second half. This caused Oregon to tie the game and ultimately take the lead with less than four minutes to go in the second half. By the time the final buzzer rang, the score favored the visiting team as USC fell 68-60.
Claude had the best showing for USC as he secured a team-high 22 points. Agbo also had a standout performance for the Trojans, recording 18 points while shooting at 100 percent from the charity stripe.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
Assistant coaches Will Conroy and Quincy Pondexter are making their way back home to Washington. Both coaches had great careers for the Huskies. Conroy played for Washington from 2001-05, finishing as the Huskies' all-time assists leader. Pondexter played for the team from 2007-10, scoring the fifth-most points in program history with 1,786. Wesley Yates III also came to the Trojans from Washington.
FIRST ROAD GAME IN CONFERENCE PLAY
This game against the Huskies is the first road game in the Big Ten Conference for USC. Over the last 10 seasons, the Trojans have a record of 7-3 during their first road conference game.
STARTING FIVE
Head Coach Eric Musselman seems to have found his stride with his starting lineup. This was the second time this season where the same five players started in two straight games. Those five players have been Saint Thomas, Desmond Claude, Terrance Williams II, Chibuzo Agbo and Josh Cohen. Thomas and Cohen are the only two players to start every game for the Trojans.
