No. 3 Seed USC Women’s Tennis Headed to Ojai for Pac-12 Championship Tournament

OJAI – The No. 3 seeded USC women's tennis team kicks off the postseason on Thursday, April 25 at the Pac-12 Women's Tennis Championship Tournament. USC will face the winner of the Washington vs. Washington State match Thursday, April 25 at 6 p.m. at the Weil Tennis Academy in the quarterfinals.
USC is currently 17-7 and 8-2 in Pac-12 play, locking down the No. 3 seed in the Conference Championship Tournament.
The Trojans beat both No. 25 Washington (4-1) and Washington State (5-2) earlier in the season.

RANKINGS:
The Women of Troy enter this week ranked No. 11 in the country (ITA Computerized Rankings April 23).
Currently, four Trojans appear in the national singles rankings, with sophomore Emma Charney leading USC at No. 30 and junior Grace Piper locked in the No. 62 ranking. Trojan redshirt senior Snow Han sits at No. 90 and fifth-year Eryn Cayetano claimed the No. 96 spot.
The Women of Troy also boasts two ranked duos in No. 23 Cayetano and Charney and No. 69 Parker Fry and Grace Piper.
SO FAR THIS SEASON:
The Women of Troy opened the 2024 season with a pair of home dual matches, defeating LMU (7-0) and UC Irvine (4-0) during a season-opening doubleheader on January 18.
USC then hit the road for ITA Kickoff Weekend in Knoxville, Tenn., defeating No. 21 Miami (4-2) and No. 17 Tennessee (4-2).
Following a fantastic kickoff weekend, Trojan sophomore Emma Charney was named the Pac-12 Women's Tennis Player of the Week. Charney went undefeated in singles and doubles in Knoxville and delivered both clinchers.
USC traveled south on Saturday, Feb. 3, for a dual against No. 20 San Diego. The No. 16 ranked Women of Troy won three singles matches against the Toreros but ultimately fell 4-3 to USD, dropping to 4-1 on the season.
At the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, USC went 1-2 in matches, falling to then No. 1 UNC before rebounding to beat No. 21 ranked Washington. The Trojans capped their time at ITA's with a 4-2 loss to No. 6 Pepperdine.
USC bounced back on the road to wrap up February play, downing Michigan State 6-1 before upsetting No. 2 Michigan 4-1. Trojan Grace Piper was named the Pac-12 Women's Tennis Player of the Week after going 4-0 in singles and doubles (combined) and clinching the Trojans match against the No. 2 Wolverines.
Following a month on the road, USC returned home to face crosstown rival UCLA on Friday, March 1, falling to the Bruins 5-2. Naomi Cheong and Eryn Cayetano were the only two Trojans to record singles wins against UCLA.
The Women of Troy rebounded on Monday, March 4 as the Trojans beat the Gauchos 6-1 at home. After winning the doubles point, USC carried momentum into singles play, winning five straight matches before redshirt senior Snow Han fell on center court to her top-75 ranked UCSB opponent.
USC opened Pac-12 play at home, going 2-0 as USC beat #25 Washington and Washington State. Against the Huskies, the Women of Troy dropped the doubles point, but would rebound to claim the match 4-1. On Saturday against the Cougars, USC won the doubles point and four matches to take the match 5-2.
The Trojans continued the hot streak beating Arizona (5-2) and Arizona State (4-0) last weekend to remain undefeated in Pac-12 play.
USC paused conference play the penultimate weekend of March, going 1-1 in nonconference play as the Trojans fell to No. 4 Pepperdine (4-0) on March 23, but rebounded the following day to down Hawaii 4-0.
The Women of Troy resumed Pac-12 play on March 30, with USC falling to No. 5 Stanford 4-1 before rebounding to down No. 11 Cal 4-3 the following day. Against Cal, the Trojans erased a 3-1 deficit to beat the Golden Bears and remain in the hunt for a Pac-12 regular season title.
USC then swept the mountain schools, downing Colorado (6-1) and Utah (5-2) to wrap up the final regular season Pac-12 road duals.
The following weekend the Women of Troy returned home to host Oregon, beating the Ducks 4-0 on April 12.
Most recently, USC suffered their first home loss of the season to crosstown rival No. 11 UCLA on Friday, April 19. The Bruins outscored the Trojans 4-2 to clinch the Pac-12 Regular Season Title.
LAST YEAR:
Last season, the Women of Troy went on a historic run at the Pac-12 Championship Tournament, reaching the final for the first time in program history. USC powered past Washington State (4-1), No. 22 ASU (4-1) and Cal (4-2) to reach the championship final. The Trojans fell to No. 8 Stanford 4-0 in the final.
