USC Women's Soccer Falls to Nebraska, 3-2
October 16, 2025 | Women's Soccer
LOS ANGELES – The USC women's soccer team suffered a 3-2 defeat at home to Nebraska on Thursday night at Rawlinson Stadium.
The Trojans held the bulk of the possession and created numerous chances late but were unable to break through for the equalizer against the Cornhuskers. USC falls to 7-6-1 overall and 4-5 in Big Ten play. Nebraska moves to 8-3-5, 3-3-3.
The Cornhuskers struck first in the 23rd minute, getting a long-distance smash that found the upper left corner from Ella Rudney. After Molly McDougal tied things up for USC in the 40th minute, the visitors again pulled in front with a header in the box from Mila Branch just before the break.
McDougal's goal was the first of her career as she finished a corner kick sent in from Eleanor Morrissey near the back post. USC had one called back just before Nebraska scored as Ines Simas was called offsides after she poked a rebound home in the 44th minute.
Nebraska picked up where they left off early in the second half, scoring off a cross in the 48th minute to make it a 3-1 game. It took 10 minutes for Maribel Flores to pull USC back to within one as she took matters into her own hands, dribbling the ball 25 yards up the middle of the field and smashing one home from 20 yards out.
USC was inches away from an equalizer on several occasions over the final 30 minutes of play but just couldn't come up with the late strike. The Trojans held 60% of the possession over the course of the game and outshot Nebraska 11-3 in the second half, but Husker keeper Cece Villa made seven saves, including two big ones late to keep the visitors in front.
