Trojans to host Toreros for a Friday afternoon dual at Marks Stadium.
LOS ANGELES – With two weeks of rest under its belt, the No. 15 USC women's tennis team is primed to return the court against San Diego this Fri., Feb. 14 at Marks Tennis Stadium. The Trojans and Toreros will face off at 3 p.m. PT.
It's been a long break for the Women of Troy, who started off the season 3-1 and notched a victory over the No. 7 Texas Longhorns. Now, USC is back in business, following their narrow defeat to No. 13 Auburn at the ITA Kickoff Weekend tournament in late January.
Four Trojans made it into the newest round of ITA rankings. Senior Grace Piper continued to lead the squad at No. 44, followed closely by junior Emma Charney at No. 46. Sophomore Immi Haddad is holding steady at No. 59, while freshman Jana Hossam jumped into the rankings for the first time in her collegiate career, coming in No. 81. On the doubles side, Piper and sophomore Lily Fairclough kept their position in the top 10 pairings, landing at No. 8.
The Women of Troy will face a handful of notable players for San Diego this weekend, including No. 26 Kailey Evans. They will also face off against the No. 24 pairing of Claudia De Las Heras and Evans.
With just a handful of matches remaining before conference play begins, USC will look to build momentum this weekend before heading into the rest of the season.
