USC Men’s Tennis Drops Home Match to Washington
March 28, 2025 | Men's Tennis
LOS ANGELES – USC men's tennis (9-6, 3-2 Big Ten) dropped its second-straight match as it fell to Washington (11-5, 3-3 Big Ten), 4-2, on Friday, March 28 at David X. Marks Tennis Stadium.
The Trojans fell to a familiar foe, winning two singles matches and losing the doubles point in the home defeat. In doubles play, USC won the first of three matches on court two with the pairing of sophomore Volodymyr Iakubenko and junior Oscar Weightman, 6-4. However, the Trojans dropped the matches on courts one and three to go down 1-0.
In singles, freshman Matteo Morazzi would start the team strong with a win in two sets, 6-3, 6-4. However, that would be part of the teams exchanging points as the Huskies took home the point on court three. Freshman Connor Church would grow his win streak to five, as he is now 5-0 from the No. 6 spot. That would be the last point for the Trojans, as senior Peter Makk and freshman Nathan Trouve fell to ranked opponents.
USC will play Oregon at noon on Sunday, March 30, at the David X. Marks Tennis Stadium.
