Trojans finish 15th at NCAA Championships with 80 points.
Federal Way, Wash. – USC men's swimming and diving wrapped up the four-day 2025 NCAA Championships with its best finish since 2018 on Saturday evening at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.
The Trojans placed 15th at the meet with 80 points, moving up seven spots from last season. Texas won the team title with 460 points, followed by Cal in second (422) and Indiana in third (392).
Three Trojan school records were set on Saturday, with senior Chris O'Grady breaking his own school record twice in one day. During prelims, O'Grady clocked a PR 1:51.35 to lower his USC record in the event. Hours later, the senior returned to finish third in the consolation of the event in a new school record time of 1:50.48. With the time, he earned Second Team All-America honors and became the first Trojan ever to swim a sub-1:51.00 200y breaststroke.
Sophomore Krzysztof Chmielewski also set a school record on Saturday, clocking a personal best 1:39.09 in the 200y butterfly. Chmielewski, who set the school record back at the Big Ten Championships (1:40.72), shaved off more than a minute and a half to take third during prelims. The school record came during a re-swim, with the initial heat having to be stopped mid-race due to a official's error at the start. During the re-swim, Chmielewski made up ground on the final 50 to come from behind and win the heat. He wrapped up the day with First Team All-America honors in the event, finishing sixth during finals in 1:39.66.
Diver Laurent Gosselin-Paradis was third in the platform consolation final, tallying 375.85 points to earn Second Team All-America honors. Trojan Robert Gref was 24th during prelims with 314.85 points.
USC closed out the evening with a 25th place finish in the 400y freestyle relay as Oliver Sogaard-Andersen, Luke Maurer, K. Chmielewski and Diggory Dillingham combined to post a 2:50.48.
During prelims, freshman Junhao Chan posted a personal best 1:52.60 in the 200y breaststroke, finishing 22ndoverall. Ben Dillard was 27th in the event in 1:53.56.
USC fifth year swimmer Luke Maurer was 54th in the 100y freestyle (42.72) and Michal Chmielewski was 38thin the 200y fly (1:42.93).
