The freshman used a 65 (-7) to earn her fourth individual title at the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational
FAIRFAX, Calif. – USC women's golf freshman Jasmine Koo picked up her fourth win of the season and tied the program record for wins in a season as she played her way into a three-way tie for the individual title at the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational on Tuesday, Mar. 4.
The Trojans continued their streak of posting top-three finishes as they ended up third out of 14 teams at seven-under-par. No. 1 Stanford ended up with the tournament title as they finished 29-under par.
Koo bolstered her trophy case for the fourth time this season, using a 65 (-7) to push her into a tie for the lead. The freshman produced seven birdies in the round and had no bogeys. This is the third time that Koo has carded a 65 in a round with it happening in back-to-back rounds to finish the Stanford Intercollegiate and start the East Lake Cup. The freshman finished out 13-under par overall as she tied Oregon's Karen Tsuru and Stanford's Paula Martin Sampedro for the title.
Including Koo's numbers, the lineup counted 65-74-75-76 (290, +2), as the Trojans finished out seven-under-par (857). Junior Catherine Park posted her sixth top-10 finish of the season and her fifth straight. Park went two-over par on the final day, as she ended up even-par for the tournament. In the final round, she finished her tournament with three straight bogeys – holes No. 17-1 (she started on hole No. 2).
Freshman Kylie Chong finished third on the day, as she posted a 75 (+3). Chong had two double bogeys and two bogeys but was able to mitigate the damage with three birdies. Chong ended up 11-over par and tied for 54th in the field.
Senior Xin (Cindy) Kou finished right behind Chong on the day with a four-over par round but ended up with her third top-25 finish in a row, as she tied for 15th at one-over par. Sophomore Bailey Shoemaker tied Kou on the day with a 76 (+1) as she ended seven-over par overall and tied for 39th.
The Trojans return to action with the crosstown rivalry as they take on UCLA on Monday, Mar. 17 at the Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.
