USC Rowing Runs Through UCLA in Annual Dual
March 08, 2025 | Women's Rowing
The Women of Troy improve to 23-1 all-time against crosstown rival UCLA
LOS ANGELES – The USC rowing team defeated UCLA in the annual head-to-head dual for a fifth straight time and improved to 23-1 all-time over the Bruins at the Port of Los Angeles on Saturday, March 8.
The Women of Troy collected a 20-3 victory with wins by the 1V8, 2V8, 3V8, and the 1V4.
"I'm so grateful to UCLA for coming out today and giving us their best," said first-year head coach Kelsie Chaudoin. "This is a really early-season race, so we're looking forward to going and finding more speed and continuing to get after it every day at practice. Our coaching staff is so excited that our first race is in the books."
"This is super exiting for a young team like ours," said senior Isabella Lysaker. "We have put in a lot of hard work this fall and through the winter. It's just great to see how this is building up this program in a new age of USC rowing. As a senior now, I'm so excited to see where this team will go not just this season but in the many seasons still to come."
UCLA scored the first point of the day with a win by its 3V4. The Bruins held their margin with 800m to go and gained open water with 600 to the line. USC made its biggest move with 300m to go but UCLA's bow ball crossed the line with several boat-lengths of open water over the Trojans.
