
USC’s Catherine Park Earns Top Ten Finish at Big Ten Championships

HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. – Junior Catherine Park posted her eighth top-10 finish of the season – tied for second in program history – with a two-under-par outing at the Big Ten Championships. Park ended up tied for fifth in the field as the squad finalized their time in Maryland at 20-over par, putting them ninth amongst the 18 teams on Sunday, Apr. 20, at Bulle Rock Golf Course.
The Trojans fell back two spots on the final day after counting scores of 72-73-76-77 (298), ending their tournament with 884 (+20). Oregon claimed the conference title at -12.
Park posted her sixth-straight round of par or better, as she finished her tournament with a line of 70-72-72 (214). In her final round, the junior kept an even keel with two bogeys and two birdies during the round. Park now has 20 rounds of par or better for the season and is three shy of her own record as she enters the NCAA portion of the schedule.
Sophomore Bailey Shoemaker had a tough time during this final stretch, as she dropped 28 spots into a tie for -- after carding a 79 (+7) on the final day. Despite the round, Shoemaker was the second-best finisher for the Trojans at seven-over par for the tournament. The sophomore started in the hole early with three straight bogeys, a double bogey, and then one more bogey on No. 6.
Freshman Jasmine Koo was one-over par for the day and ended her tournament at nine-over par overall. Koo was three-over on the front nine but had a minor comeback with an eagle on the par five No. 15 and a birdie on No. 16. Koo ended up tied for – putting her with just her second placement outside of the 20 this season.
Freshman Kylie Chong ended her time at her first conference tournament tied for 50th place at ten-over par. Chong had the third-best day for USC, as she was four over par. Senior Xin (Cindy) Kou finalized the Trojans poll positions as she was tied for 72nd at 15-over par.
The Women of Troy will have to wait and see what is next for their schedule as the NCAA Division I Selection Show is set to air at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET Wednesday on the Golf Channel.
