USC Men’s Tennis Primed for First Big Ten Conference Tournament
April 24, 2025 | Men's Tennis
LOS ANGELES – With its first season of Big Ten conference tennis in the books, USC men's tennis (14-9, 8-5 Big Ten) will begin the conference tournament with a quarterfinal matchup against Michigan State (15-8, 10-3 Big Ten) at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 25 in Columbus, Ohio.
The Trojans wrapped their inaugural season in the conference as the sixth seed, narrowly falling behind Michigan State (10-3 Big Ten) and Washington (8-5 Big Ten) and ahead of Michigan (8-5 Big Ten).
As the sixth seed, USC earned a first-round bye and will face its first action in the quarterfinals against No. 3 seed/No. 21 ranked Michigan State. The Trojans and the Spartans met once during the conference regular season, with USC narrowly falling 4-3 at home.
Michigan State is led by No. 13 Ozan Baris, who played on court two during the last match, while USC will lean on No. 17 senior Peter Makk on center court. The Trojans will also look for strong performances across the board to avenge their earlier loss and move on to the semifinals.
During the regular season matchup, USC won the doubles point but fell in four of the six singles matches, with Makk and senior Karl Lee being the lone Trojans to earn a victory.
The winner of Friday's match will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, where they will face the winner of the Michigan/Northwestern and UCLA match at 1:30 p.m. ET.
USC will play in Columbus at 1 p.m. Pacific Time on Friday, April 25, in the quarterfinals. For live updates click here, the match will also be broadcasted on Big Ten Plus here.
