No. 4 USC Women's Golf Sits In Second After Round 1 Of Golfweek Red Sky Classic

Kylie Chong shot the lowest round of her career to lead the Trojans.
WOLCOTT, Colo. – No. 4 USC Women's Golf competed in the first round of the Golfweek Red Sky Classic, taking place at the Red Sky Golf Club in Wolcott, Colorado. Following the first 18 holes of this tournament, the Women of Troy are sitting in second place out of 20 teams.
The Trojans were led by sophomore Kylie Chong, who shot the lowest round of her career by going six-under-par. She hit par on the first three holes until she got her first of six birdies on the day. With this performance, she is currently sitting in second place individually.
Along with Chong, Jasmine Koo had a strong performance as she is currently tied for fourth. Koo finished the day with seven birdies and only two bogies to finish one stroke behind her teammate.
Freshman Sarah Hammett had a standout performance in her second tournament as a Trojan. She wrapped up the first round by going one under par, which resulted in her being tied for 11th. The final Trojan whose score counted for the day was Elise Lee. After a standout performance in her last tournament, she started the Red Sky Classic by going even on the day to be tied for 22nd.
As a team, the Women of Troy contributed the lowest team round of this young season as they went 12-under. This was good enough to land in second place out of 20 teams and is just two strokes out of first place.
