The Trojans head to San Diego yet again this weekend.
SAN DIEGO — Wrapping up the exhibition slate, the No. 21 USC Men's Basketball team travels south to play San Diego State in the Viejas Arena this Friday.
Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT. The game will not be televised or livestreamed, but a radio broadcast will be available through SDSU via San Diego Sports 760. All pertinent links can be found on the men's basketball team's schedule page on usctrojans.com.
USC is coming off an 80-74 road win at UC San Diego last week. Competing in front of a near-sellout road crowd, the Trojans pulled away in the second half and put the clamps down on the UCSD offense in the second half, holding the hot-shooting Tritons to shooting just 20% from beyond the arc.
For the second-straight exhibition game, guards Rodney Rice and Alijah Arenas led the team with 26 and 22 points, respectively. Rice, who has averaged 24.0 points per game in two exhibitions, scored nine of USC's final 11 points to seal the win. Arenas scored his 22 points on 9-for-15 shooting, plus he added eight rebounds, which would have been a career-best in a countable game.
After being hindered by foul trouble in the first half, Jacob Cofie added eight points and a team-best 10 rebounds, several of which came in the final four minutes. Darius Ratliff also added a game-high five blocks.
Friday's head coaching matchup between Eric Musselman and San Diego State Head Coach Brian Dutcher stems back to Musselman's time coaching at Nevada from 2015-19. Musselman has a 4-7 record against the Aztecs, but has never won in the Viejas Arena. Furthermore, Dutcher's father, Jim, succeeded Musselman's father Bill, at Minnesota back in 1975.
San Diego State is coming off an 82-67 road exhibition loss to No. 5 Arizona last weekend. Four Aztecs finished in double figures, led by Oregon State transfer Isaiah Sy's 17 points.
USC's season and home opener is Monday, Nov. 2 against Milwaukee. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Single-game and season tickets are available at usctrojans.com.
