Trojans look to clinch share of Big Ten regular season title.
LOS ANGELES - No. 10 USC women's tennis returns home to Marks Stadium this weekend for its final stretch of Big Ten regular season play, hosting Purdue on Friday at 2 p.m. before welcoming Indiana on Saturday at 12 p.m. The weekend will also feature Senior Day festivities, as Emma Charney will be honored prior to Saturday's match.
The Trojans (17-5, 10-1 Big Ten) enter the weekend in top form, riding a five-match win streak following a 4-1 road victory over Illinois. USC has been dominant at home all season, boasting an 8-0 record at Marks Stadium and a 12-match home win streak dating back to last year. With the conference race tightening, the Trojans are currently tied for first place with Michigan and Ohio State and can clinch a share of the Big Ten regular season title with two wins this weekend.
Friday's matchup marks the first-ever meeting between USC and Purdue. The Boilermakers (7-12, 3-8 Big Ten) are coming off a 4-0 loss to Penn State and have struggled against conference competition this season. Purdue's top doubles team of Ece Gencer and Ida Clement sit at No. 61 nationally, but the Boilermakers do not feature a ranked singles player. USC's depth and momentum will present a significant challenge as the Trojans look to start the weekend strong.
On Saturday, USC hosts Indiana (14-9, 4-7 Big Ten), which will face UCLA on Friday before playing the Trojans.. The Hoosiers are coming off a 4-0 loss to No. 3 Ohio State but have put together a solid season overall. Indiana's doubles pair of Hiilani Williams and Alessandra Teodosescu are ranked No. 90 nationally. Saturday's match marks the first meeting between the programs since 1991 and the seventh all-time, with USC holding a 5-2 series advantage.
USC's lineup continues to be anchored by No. 22 Jana Hossam and No. 58 Emma Charney in singles, along with a trio of ranked doubles teams led by No. 25 Krisha Mahendran and Lily Fairclough.
