No. 22 USC Men’s Golf Sits in Sixth Place at the Vuori Invitational

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — The No. 22 USC Men's Golf Team is in sixth place out of 12 teams after the first two rounds of the Vuori Invitational, held at Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club in San Diego, Calif. Monday.
While the Trojans finished their rounds, play for the final two groups was suspended due to darkness. Players from Pacific, San Diego State and Long Beach State will wrap up their rounds tomorrow at 8:00 a.m.
On a day where only one team finished at or above par on the par-71, 7,003-yard course, the Trojans fired a 12-over 580 (290-290) to place sixth through the first two rounds. No. 8 Arkansas leads the field with an even-par 580, while Colorado (+4) and Oregon (+7) round out the top three.
Junior Jack Buchanan leads the way for the Trojans in a tie for seventh by firing an even-par 142. He fired a 69 (-2) in round one to bring him into the top five, then took the lead at the turn of the second round with a birdie on the par-4 No. 10. However, he found trouble on the back side to finish with a 73 (+2) in the second round. He is the only USC player at or above par.
Playing in the USC lineup for the first time this season, sophomore Joshua Hong is tied for 23rd with a 145 (+4). After firing a 74 (+3) in the first round, Hong fired a 71 (E) with three birdies and three bogeys.
Freshman William Hou is tied for 33rd with a 147 (+5). He found trouble early in his first round but had birdies on Nos. 9-10 to sit at +2 at the turn. However, he ran into more trouble on the back side as he fired a 74 (+3) in the first round. One of three Trojans to improve in the second round, Hou wrapped up the day by firing a 73 (+3).
Senior Nicolas Dominguez rounds out the Trojan scorers in a tie for 45th with a 148 (+6), while junior Jaden Dumdumaya is in a tie for 52nd with a 149 (+9).
