THIS SEASON: A 2016 Olympian with Team USA and USC’s latest Cutino Award winner, McQuin Baron enters his final season at USC ranked No. 2 all-time in career saves with 817 total saves as a Trojan — just 39 away from taking over the top spot.
2016: Baron was named the Peter J. Cutino Award winner and was the National Player of the Year as a junior... A First Team All-American, he also earned spots on the All-MPSF First Team, was named the MPSF Tournament MVP and was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Second Team... Collected 247 saves in 24 appearances, with 13 double-digit saves outings... Matched career high with 19 saves in the NCAA Final... Averaged 11.62 saves and 4.47 goal-against per game... Named MPSF Player of the Week on Nov. 14 after posting nine saves in an MPSF win over UCLA.
2015: Baron was just six saves off his record-setting mark set as a freshman, collecting 282 saves in his sophomore season... Earned another round of All-American Second Team honors... Also selected to the NCAA All-Tournament Second Team and had a spot on the All-MPSF Second Team... Appeared in 29 games, recording double-digit saves in 14 games... Had a career-high 19 saves in two games -- the NCAA semifinal win over Cal and MPSF Tournament quarterfinal win over Stanford... Averaged 11.1 saves and 6.2 goals-against per game... Named MPSF Player of the Week on Oct. 5 after an 18-save effort in a win over Stanford.
